Cullman County deputy, Trussville native to run for lieutenant governor
A fourth person is throwing their hat in the ring for the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor.
Retired Army Major and Cullman County Deputy Patrick Bishop says he will formally announce his candidacy on Memorial Day.
Bishop’s campaign says he has been outspoken against the crime crisis in the state, homeless veterans, the need for community service officers to assist law enforcement with citizens with mental illness issues, and more protection for teachers in the classroom.
Bishop served 26 years in the United States Army after enlisting in 1990 as a Ramsay High School graduate and several years in law enforcement.
Bishop and his wife Angela currently live in Trussville.
Bishop will join current Secretary of State Wes Allen, Dean Odle and Dr. Nicole Wadsworth all vying for the nomination.
The primary takes place on May 19, 2026.
